The city auditor’s office will ask the City Council Thursday to hire a consulting firm to audit the Community Development Department.
City Auditor Jorge Oseguera’s office wants the auditing job to go to Sacramento firm Sjoberg Evashenk Consulting Inc.
In a report to the City Council, Oseguera wrote that Sjoberg is “the highest ranking competitor and most responsive bidder.” City staff interviewed four candidates for the job.
Oseguera proposes that the city pay up to $66,424 to the firm for the audit.
The City Council is scheduled to decide whether to hire the firm Thursday.

Btw, Hi Susie!
On the firm's client list from the firm's website there is prominently featured an entry for noneother than the BELL, MCANDREWS, HILTCHAK et al., law firm....
http://secteam.com/clients.aspx
This should have been disclosed PRIOR to any consideration of this firm for this auditing role.... especially regarding the potential for a conflict of interest, and especially given the intimate connection between KJ, Hiltchaka (sp? whatever), and SAG....and the SMI.....
Bells and whistles should have sprung alive on this one.....
This may also indicate that the new 'independent auditor' isn't quite as 'independent' as he was touted to be....
PLEASE WRITE YOUR COUNCIL MEMBERS IMMEDIATELY!!!!
Take care...
Thanks bunches
Mayor Johnson’s strong-mayor proposal was drafted by private attorney Thomas Hiltachk, who is also Governor Schwarzenegger’s legal counsel. A little research on Hiltachk finds:
He was behind the failed 2008 “Californians for Equal Representation” proposal which would have changed the way California awards its Presidential electoral votes. This was funded by infamous Swiftboater Bob Perry.
Hiltachk also created an anti-Obama 527 called “Leadership for America’s Future”.
Hiltachk was legal counsel for the 1998 anti-union “Californians for Paycheck Protection” proposition, which cost California unions millions to defeat.
The fake 2006 grassroots group “Safe and Clean Schools Coalition” used his law office address for a mailer supporting urban sprawl rather than smart growth infill. A July 5th, 2006 Bee editorial said the mailer “indicates there are some well-financed enemies of an emerging regional strategy to focus more growth closer to transit and jobs.”
Hitachk represented Ted Costa, who filed the petition and drove the 2003 California recall election against then-Governor Gray Davis.
They're not exactly 'nice' people....
They and the Raimundo crowd are masters of linguistic twists and turns a la Frank Luntz, who also counsel's KJ's camp, to trick less than aware Sacramentans into believing that the SMI is a 'grassroots movement' when in fact its backed by real estate and corporate entities...among other neo-Orwellian parlential malignancies...
Bbbbmer, Hi! Thanks for the heads-up on the KJ connection. His tentatcles are everywhere! I will not inform my council member because he's a lost cause - he's already sold his soul to the devil, but I will inform the others.
Yep, your guy is 'lost', especially since he's on the audit cmte that selected both the staff 'indy auditor' AND this firm.... I have no doubt in my mind that your guy is up to his eyeballs in this mess, and it appears that there may be a serious challenge against him as well....
But what you might consider doing is to write to the 'good' council members -- Fong, Sheedy, McCarty, and Pannell... this gives them heft to go against what will no doubt be another petulant KJ rant when this turkey is calendared...
Take care.... Ciao!
That's ok -- they have to live with themselves...
If you'd like, post your concerns to Cosmo Garvin's SNOG blog at the SNR.... They'll post it prominently...
