Sacramento, Ca. – A full night of entertainment has been planned for the “Evening at Sea” gala hosted by the non-profit Eskaton Senior Services on April 29 at the Arden Hills Resort Club and Spa. Attendees will enjoy dinner, wine tasting, a Polynesian performance, a casino and auction to benefit deserving seniors in the greater Sacramento region. Prizes including day trip on a private yacht for ten, a week’s stay in Maui Kaanaplai Ocean Resort, a cruise for two to the Caribbean and two tickets to the Ellen Show with airfare and accommodations.
The master of ceremonies for the night will be KFBK’s Kitty O’Neal. "I love attending the Eskaton Gala because the event has so much heart,” said O’Neal. “Sure, you get the magnificent party, but the program always touches me and shows the particular ways I'm enriching senior's lives while having such a grand time! I always leave happy."
Eskaton provides TLC - a telephone assurance program, Adult Day Healthcare and the multi-service Senior Connection to needy area seniors. All proceeds from the gala will go into these programs that provide transportation, companionship, care management and Affordable Housing to seniors who wish to age-in-place.
One area senior, “Manuel,” benefits from both the TLC and the senior companion programs. Recently diagnosed with cancer and without the family to offer support, Manuel needed transportation to his chemotherapy and moral support. “The world is a better place because of TLC,” he said. “I have confidence that I can live alone without feeling lonely.”
Barbara Wilson of Phoenix, AZ depends of Eskaton to be there for her 90 year-old mother when she cannot. The TLC staff and volunteers have become extended family to her and more importantly, her mother. “Having someone care enough to call my mom gives me peace of mind,” she said.
Entertainment will include the Baby Boomer classic rock band Runnin 4Cover and the Los Rios Community College Hula and Polynesian Dance Team. Silver Oak Winery will host a wine tasting bar and a full dinner will be served.
Eskaton asks for a donation of $125 for the evening or $1000 for a table for ten. If you would like to attend or donate an item for the raffle, contact Kathy Hatten at 916-334-1810 or e-mail her at Kathy.hatten@eskaton.org.
