This week I was given a very soothing hair cut. I visited Honey Salon located on 19th St. between H and I. Not only was I greeted by warm faces and smiles, but also by a beautiful atmosphere.

This salon exhibited art from a local artist, throughout the salon. Keri Carr, the owner, finds a new artist every two months to display their art for sale.

When I first walked in, there was a man that approached me and immediately offered me a beverage. The salon offers an assortment of drinks ranging from tea, coffee, hot chocolate, wine, beer, and for those who are just simply parched, water.

I was really impressed by the plethora of drinks, but that was until I received my shampoo.

After Keri rinsed and conditioned my hair, she wrapped my neck in a warm towel that smelled of aromatherapy. Just when I thought I couldn't be more relaxed, she started in on a deep, scalp massage that made my head tingle all over.

I have been to many salons, but none of those salons catered to the needs of their guests quite like this one.

The experience continued to get better as Keri gave me the perfect haircut. Every time I thought she was finished, she would snip a bit more to make sure my hair was just right.

Keri opened the salon about two and a half years ago, and claims that the three days of complete remodeling they performed, were the three most exhausting days of her life.

The space in which Honey Salon is located in was previously occupied by another salon. The truth is, Keri explains, that the three-day production of this salon was made possible by her very close friends and family.

She told me that when ever something would go wrong or she had a problem that needed fixing, by some miracle, a friend or family member would stop by and be able to fix what ever the issue was.

Even today, as it stands two and half years later, you can feel the good vibes and family energy when you walk in the door. The staff acts as if they are family to one another, and when you are a guest in their home, they treat you like family as well.

A couple things I found unique to this salon, was the fact that they only carried Bumble and Bumble products. For those women out there who have tried Bumble and Bumble, you know, that this is among the best product lines anyone can use.

Also, in many salons you may find that the cords being everywhere can be quite an issue. Not at Honey, though.

During the three-day remodel Keri's dad asked if there was something in particular that she wanted. She responded with, "The cords are everywhere and I want them out of my way."

So he installed a roll up mechanism from the ceiling. This means that the cords are never in the way, especially when they aren't in use.

In case I wasn't too clear, men and women, this is a salon you must check out, even if it is only for a complimentary glass of wine and a shampoo.

Honey is located at 818 19th Street. You can visit their Myspace page www.myspace.com/honeysalon or call them at 916-442-6636.

Wow. That sounds awesome. Even if I don't want my hair cut, I may just go in for a shampoo and a glass of wine because of how relaxing you made it sound. I've only had one recent hair cut where someone shampooed my hair, since guys usually don't get that done during haircuts, and I have to say it felt pretty good.
