Simply exquisite! Thank you for covering this very little but very civilized story that is so much a part of Sacramento -- makes me a bit homesick right now.... Thank you....

March 6th and 7th was the 86th Camellia Weekend in Sacramento - the Camellia City. This celebration endures even as many flower shows and garden clubs have withered. Sacramento's annual camellia show now ranks as one of the oldest and largest continuously held shows in the state devoted to a single flower.

Today, May 7, I received my ribbons for the blooms I entered in the completion. In a nutshell, for this armature grower, it was my best year yet for ribbons.

Two gold "Head Table" ribbons. This a a first place "plus" designation. The blooms that receive this designation are considered for trophies.

Two blue ribbons for first place.

Two red ribbons for two second place awards.

One white ribbon for a third place award.

I encourage you to participate in 2011 the first weekend in March. The venue is the Memorial Auditorium, Sacramento, http://www.sacramentoconventioncenter.com/venues/memorialAuditorium.
