SARTA's 7th Annual Tech Index Celebration drew a crowd of nearly 450 to the Sacramento Hyatt Regency on Wednesday, February 17.  The audience learned of UC Davis Chancellor Linda Katehi's vision for the future of our local top-ranked research institution, and was motivated, educated, and inspired by Kevin Surace, Chairman and CEO of Serious Materials, and Inc. Magazine's 2009 Entrepreneur of the Year.  The region's fifty top technology companies, members of SARTA's quarterly Tech Index, were honored for their accomplishments and leadership.  SARTA's Tech Index is the only one of its kind in the country, and serves as a barometer for the health of the technology sector in our region. For the third quarter 2009, the most recent for which data is available, the Tech index showed a gain of nearly 9%, with increases in employment and equity funding.  SARTA developed the Tech Index in 2003 as part of its mission to support the growth and success of technology-based companies, of all sizes, in the Sacramento region.  For more information, www.sarta.org
