After the sign's installation was halted Thursday, it was permitted to go up Friday afternoon.
OakPark, Sacramento, CA
Friday, February 12, 2010

The sign installation crew was literally about to drill the mounting holes for the new Old Soul Co. sign in Oak Park Thursday morning when a call came in from the city to halt the installation. Due to the building being historical, there was an issue of placement and electrical connections. (see previous article)

Just a little more than twenty four hours later, the installation was approved and the sign was installed around 3 P.M. Friday afternoon, exactly in the spot intended and electrical hooked up to light the sign just as planned.

Old Soul's Grand Opening Reception will take place Saturday evening from 6-10PM.

I am grateful for the countless lives spared by a questionable sign install. Bless them.

This place is a CLASS act... They really got it right from the tenant improvements to the simple but tasty menu. If anyone wants to see a truly classy, urban coffee house they have to check Old Soul out!

Been there every day since they opened.

It seems that no matter how rules are written, enforcement staff must use common sense. Perhaps this brief sign kerfuffle is an example.

Old Soul, proving once again that it pays to keep politicians in ones pockets. I wonder how many people they had to call to get this taken care of; more or less than it took to get the $100k for the alley? More or less than it took to not get fined for running an illegal cafe?
