Sacramento business owner and entrepreneur David Picton has been named to the board of directors of the Albie Carson Breast Cancer Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to breast cancer education, outreach and screening in the Greater Sacramento region.

Picton, owner of Sacramento-based companies G&R Body & Paint and Earth Guard Pest Management Services, said it was a personal connection that inspired him to become involved with the foundation.

“My dear friend for 10 years lost his wife to breast cancer in 2002 and established the Foundation in her memory,” Picton said. “I’m honored to have the opportunity to serve as a board member and make a contribution to this wonderful organization that has such an impact on the health and wellbeing of women and men in our community.”

The Foundation holds approximately 15 fundraising events each year. Picton will assist in obtaining corporate sponsorships for the events and other fundraising activities.

The Albie Carson Breast Cancer Foundation raises funds for breast cancer education, prevention and treatment; works to increase awareness of breast cancer prevention and treatment; and provides financial assistance for women when screening is not covered by an insurer. The Foundation was created in memory of Albie Carson, a long-time Sacramento resident and mother with a successful real estate career. In addition to his service on the Albie Carson Foundation board, Picton serves as vice president of the California Auto Body Association.
