I was looking for a place to enjoy Monday night football and a decent Happy Hour and stumbled upon La Casa Restaurante. Usually a good Happy Hour for me consists of great drink specials but I was really hungry and decided I wanted to get my grub on.

La Casa offers Happy Hour all day on game days which is absolutely unheard of. Glasses of wine range from $3 - $4, well cocktails are $3, domestic draft beers are $2 and all others are $3. House Margaritas are $3 as well. Appetizers are half price and differ in price between $3 and $6.

This place is somewhat unassuming and honestly I have driven by it many times since it does not face the street. The family owned business has only been in town a few short years but I have a feeling it will be around for a long time to come. La Casa has 2 outside patios, a full bar with several flat screen televisions and a charming little main dining room.

We ordered a couple of beers and the combination platter as an appetizer. The combo platter had quesadillas filled with cheese and barbacoa style meat, cheese and beef nachos and beef flautas. For $6, myself, my wife and my 8 year old were pleasantly full and everything was delicious.

Our server Jessica was attentive, knowledgeable and seemed to enjoy her job very much. I cannot stress enough how important it is for me to have a server who isn’t oozing of misery. It happens all too often that people get jobs in the service industry even though they hate it. These people will then proceed to follow me from restaurant to restaurant spreading their negativity and can’t do attitudes. My advice for these people is to try selling life insurance, you might hate that too but at least you won’t be ruining my day.

Jessica tells me I “have” to return for the Carnitas since she claims they are the best in town. My wife makes a mean Carnitas plate so I will obviously be accepting the invitation.I can tell you I will be sampling tequilas from their very impressive list the next time I am in.

Overall what I got from La Casa was good prices, good food and good service which is exactly what I set out for. The décor was authentic and the vibe was warm. La Casa Restaurante is located at 2310 Fair Oaks Boulevard in Sacramento. 916.641.8880.  Parking is plentiful as the restaurant is located in a shopping center.

Please know I am in no way affiliated with this or any restaurant I review. My goal is to go out and slowly experience different aspects of the Sacramento dining scene then share those experiences with you.

I think you were looking for Yelp. But thanks for posting, sounds like good and cheap eats! I'll go try the carnitas! :-)

No I'm in the right place. While yelp is a great place for people to rant and say basically whatever they want, that's not my goal. As a food and beverage professional and restaurant consultant I am dining out and sharing my findings with Sacramento Press readers. There aren't a whole lot of people out there reviewing for Sac Press and I felt it would be a nice addition to the mix since it's my area of expertise. Thanks for the feedback :)
