Effective immediately MAAP, Inc. has made the very difficult decision to close the Sacramento Community Health Center. This decision is based on the intent of improving the overall fiscal performance and strategic direction of the agency during tough economic times. Established in 2002, the clinic provided primary medical services for over 10,000 people, most of them children and youth ages one – nineteen years of age through the care of its pediatrician Dr. Francisco Aguirre.

Lorraine Rinker, CEO/Executive Director of MAAP, Inc. and the senior management team are working diligently to ensure a smooth transition for the Center’s staff and patients. A large majority of the Center’s pediatric patients have chosen to follow Dr. Aguirre to The Effort which is a medical clinic serving the Sacramento community since 1953. “In addition to compiling a list of alternative providers for our patients, we reached out to industry colleagues, such as The Effort’s CEO Bob Caulk, to explore ways we could work together to make certain our patients experience a seamless transition,” said Ms. Rinker. “Bob was kind enough to work with me to make certain our patients who have chosen to follow Dr. Aguirre to The Effort will experience a smooth transfer of medical services. This was critical in making the decision to close our Center.”

In order to improve efficiencies, MAAP, Inc. will focus primarily on their original core expertise, which includes drinking and driving issues, drug rehabilitation, and counseling services. “This falls in line with our goals and plans for the future,” Ms. Rinker continued. “We may become smaller in size but bigger in presence, meaning we will focus on what we do well so that we can more effectively meet the needs of our clients and the people of this community.”

The last day of operation for the Center was November 15, 2009. The Effort Medical Clinic is located at 1820 J Street, Sacramento, please call for further information: 916-325-5556. For further information regarding MAAP, Inc. and their services, please call Reyes Bonilla at 916-394-2320 ext 212.

Hello,
We refer many of our callers to the MAPP program because they provide a valuable service to our community. I am sorry to hear about the unfortunate closing.
