Rocket, this beautiful German Shepherd, is the unofficial mascot of The Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services. He plays a key role at the organization. He makes people happy. Almost two years ago, Rocket was diagnosed with Osteocarcoma, a rare form of terminal cancer. In order to keep the disease from spreading, Rocket had one of his legs amputated. Since Rocket’s operation, he has been coming to work with his Mom, Kelly Siefkin, The Sacramento Food Bank and Family Service’s Communication and Development Director. Initially Kelly brought Rocket to work with her because she was concerned about him being home alone, now she brings him because it is important to both Rocket and the amazing volunteers and community at the SFBFS.

Rocket has decided to try his paw at journalism. Every week, Rocket will interview a new Run to Feed the Hungry Runner. We will ask six different runners the same questions. We have found that people are motivated by many different reasons to be involved in this incredible event. There is still time to sign up to participate please go to www.theruntofeedthehungry.com for more information and ways to register! Please support this cause!

5. Do you run or walk outside of this event? Yes

6. What motivates you to be part of this cause? It is a way for me
to get my children involved in helping those in need. It's also a great
way to start the day!

7. What is your favorite thing about The Run to feed the Hungry?
The roar of the crowd and community atmosphere. It's exciting!

8. Do you have a favorite T-shirt design from over the years? No, I
do tend to like the earth tone colors better though.

9. If you could make one wish this year on Thanksgiving what would it be? That no one would go hungry.

10. What are you most thankful for this year? I'm thankful for a lot. My health, my children, my friends and family. And I'm thankful
