Question: What inspired you to create your own single’s group?
Answer: When I moved to Elk Grove, I knew no one except for my son. He moved here and I followed. After I got here, I worked out of my house so I didn’t get to meet anyone. I lived here for 5 years not knowing anyone and one day someone told me about the Meetup site, a nationwide organization. Then life for me began once again.

Question: What were you doing before you had this single’s group?
Answer: I was sitting home on weekends, didn’t have any friends, no outlet to meet other singles my age.
Question: What is the mission of your group? Do the members try to hook up with other members and when this happens does it ruin the group atmosphere?
Answer: The mission of my singles group is to get single people together to meet friends; I have met many great people in this group. Sometimes people hook up, but the group is not a dating group, if it happens, it happens and that is great, but sometimes if it doesn’t work out, I lose one of my members, from not wanting to run into the other person.
Question: What kind of activities does the group do?
Answer: We go to movies all together at someone’s house or at the theater. We go camping, have game night, limo bus tours, wine tasting, home parties, play laser tag, holiday parties, dancing, scavenger hunts, picnics in the park, concerts in the park, comedy night , ghost hunts, anything we can think of to do for fun and entertainment.
Question: Are your members looking for other members to partner with or do they just want to belong and have friends to hang out with?
Answer: Well, everyone is looking, even if they say they aren’t, but mainly we are all here together to have fun. It’s like an extended family. You can never have too many friends. And also if someone needs help, we are here for them, we keep everyone’s profession public to the group so we can use each other for assistance on specialized projects and this keeps up from hiring a stranger.
Question: Where are most of your members from?
Answer: Most of the members are from Sacramento. I also have members from Elk Grove. But, the bulk of our members are from in and around Sacramento and of course outside the Sacramento area.
Question: What is the URL address to your website?
Answer: http.www.meetup.com/Over-40-I-Don-t-Want-To-Grow-Up-Singles-Group-In-Elk-Grove. It’s a private group and no charge to join. When you join you can go in and look at the photos of all our events and look at all the members.
Question: How can someone contact you?
Answer: By going to the Web page and clicking on email organizer.
Question: Is your group more fun than a dating site or Table for 6, where you go through 6 people and try to determine what person from the 6 is right for you?
Answer: Oh yes, when you go to a dating site you try to have your best foot forward, you feel like your under a microscope. Going to meetups you can be yourself and people see you for yourself. You don’t have to keep your guard up all the time thinking you are being analyzed.
Question: What are some of the dinner places that your group goes to in Sacramento and Elk Grove?
Answer: Texas Roadhouse, Sizzler, B J’s, Outback, Old Spaghetti Factory, Fanny Ann’s, and many more, I try to keep it affordable for the group.
Question: Do you get attached to your members? When you lose a member for whatever reason, do you feel emptiness because of the loss?
Answer: Yes, I do, I feel like we are family and when a member leaves the group because they got married, or moved, or just haven’t been around in a while they are missed very much.
Question: Is it more fun to be busy or to have nothing to do? This should be an easy question…LOL!
Answer: Its more fun to be out and about with friends, We usually have some event going on every Thursday, Friday, Sat, and Sunday, so when Monday rolls around its nice to be alone for a while, so you have the best of both worlds there.
Question: Before I end this interview, what are your hobbies and recreational activities?
Answer: I get lost in Oil Painting, and Art, although I haven’t had time to do it lately.
I like working around my house, designing, building, going out with friends and being very active.
Question: Last question. Any words of wisdom for the audience out there?
Answer: Nobody has to sit at home alone without friends, friendships are very important and it helps in fulfilling your lifestyle..
