I'm on my way to OfficeMax located on 17th & J when I find myself skipping out of the way of a cute girl on a metallic green Fixie. Seemed rather commonplace. Upon second glance, I notice that attached to this bicycle is a cart of some sort full of promo for this, the very Web 2.0 application for which I am using!
I find myself very interested and strike up a conversation, touting eveything around Midtown that I am involved with including local music, personal music production, film, and the Sacramento Film and Music Festival. It's an immediate reaction to market myself. I learned it in Business School.
Yes, Business School. Know Thy Enemy.
"What's your favorite movie?" The girl asks.
"Uhh... Forrest Gump. I cry every time." I replied.
FORREST GUMP? 28 years on this planet and the best I can think of is Forrest Gump? Sure, it was the first of it's kind and an immediate classic, but c'mon! You're trying to impress a pretty girl working for a great cause! I immediately change conversation and introduce myself.
Sara. Her name just had to be Sara. Or is it with an 'H'? I dunno.
I respond appropriately and add that I meet too many good people named Sara. It's oddly true. My first true love was named Sara. To this day I still love and miss her. The nostalgia even forces me to sing "Zack and Sara" By Ben Folds Five like a monkey dancing with a fresh banana.
So we finish up conversation, and here I am, and this is fun. This is life happening. To Sara(h), I say "Word."
