The East Sacramento Home Remodeling Tour featured six homes.

Here are glimpses into three of them.

This 1926 Colonial bungalow on 41st St. has been updated with a new studio building, kitchen, master bath and backyard landscape.

This 2,000 square foot two story brick and stucco Tudor was orginally built for the owner of a successful haberdashery. Located on 41st St. it is distinctive for the large "oriel" window with heavy wooden brackets in the front facing gable and a large-scaled front window topped by an elliptical "transom" window.

In the living room, an original Batchelder tile fireplace establishes the remodeling theme which includes a new downstairs bath and enlarged cherry wood kitchen.

A uniquely California-inspired Italian Renaissance home with massive Prairie-style inspired window boxes, this refreshed home features a new master bath, a high end kitchen, an addition of a family room and guest bedroom, a new studio/garage and totally refreshed interior and exterior.

Proceeds from the tour benefit neighborhood parks and pools.

These are truly stunning shots. The use of a painting as a headboard is a little odd.

All these houses look gorgeously done. I think the only thing I'm against when it comes to fixing up old houses is stuccoing over the exterior. THAT looks horrible!

It works if the building was originally stucco (like a lot of Spanish Colonial, Tudor and even Craftsman homes) and there are a lot of buildings from that era in East Sac. But yes, it does look ridiculous when someone puts stucco over drop siding or other period treatment.

It was a great tour and I really enjoyed seeing people's creativity put to work. Every house had something unique. That's the beauty of east Sac - no two houses are the same. It sure inspired me to get working on my own house!

WOW. This provides a surreal look at the charm and beauty of East Sacramento. The wooden chair and bathroom shot one are especially catching. But really, the use of the lighting and space is consistently great throughout the whole story.

I felt the majority of the remoldels really stayed true to the spirit of the old home or added more character. I loved the mustard-yellow arts-and-crafts fireplace and I am going to show the picture of the kitchen w/ Shaker doors to my contractor!
