Saturday's performances of the Sacramento World Music and Dance Festival were big hits with the large crowds in the Benvenuti Performing Arts Center this afternoon and evening, Sept. 26. It is a celebration of world cultures, ethnic dance and musical performances in one location. It's an experience in high energy, fancy footwork and flying leaps as performers showcased the native dances of India, Spain, Zimbabwe and six other countries. I especially loved watching: * Argentine tango dancer, Miriam Larici, work her magic on the audience. * The beautiful Berta Olivia bring to life the power and majesty of mariachi music * Zimbabwe troupe, Chinyakare, create a hypnotic beat of drum rhythms * Jubilee American Dance troupe is always fun with their mix of dance and theater * Sampaan bringing a contemporary spin to Bengali music.
