Amidst cries of "Blue Cross, you're no good; treat the people like you should," the 100 people in attendance marched in a wide oval on the sidewalk. After a half hour of alternating rallying cheers, Laurie Comstock was invited to speak to the crowd. She told her personal story of how the health care system impacted her.

"I lost my health care in August when it almost doubled from $2...

To call this a well organized effort is just plain silly. Truly, even among health care reform advocates, of which I am proudly one, this is a naive and embarrassing protest. The left doesn't have nearly the mega-funding that the the right wing does, with its corporate support. And to suggest that a union is even remotely close these days to an insurance company in wealth and power is...actually, come to think of it, just as naive and embarrasing as this protest was.

Bush turned that surplus into a deficit. The spike in the federal deficit over the past year is in the main a result of Main St., taxpayers on the left, center and right, bailing out Wall St. These big firms contribute about equally to Democrats and Republicans.

We understand that if I want to keep my things after my house burns down I better have insurance. If I want to keep my car I better have insurance. If I want to keep retirement I better invest in my 401k. If I want to have a Doctor look at me when I am ill I better have INSURANCE. We are the people that own insurance and pay for the things we need not the things we want. Congress and Obama do not understand that, look at the budget deficit!
