The City’s first and one of the nation’s longest “Green Streets” was celebrated and opened September 15 along Dixieanne avenue in North Sacramento. With the event’s conclusion, the gateway to the Swanston Light Rail Station is now walkable and sustainable, as well as beautiful. What a great improvement to an area that could really use it. I look forward to seeing the trees and vegetation mature. It looks great now but it will only get better. Folks are much more willing to walk to transit when the route is pleasant and interesting. This project really fits with the City of Sacramento's commitment to livable, sustainable mixed use neighborhoods where residents use public transportation.
