Showbiz Comes To Sacramento

Jack. Arnold. Clint. Hollywood celebrities so big they’re known by their first names. The biggest Hollywood stars came to Sacramento for the California Hall Of Fame induction ceremonies. Jack Nicholson, Clint Eastwood, Jane Fonda, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and first lady Maria Shriver all strolled the red carpet while some bundled up, chilly Sacramentans tried to catch a glimpse of Showbiz in Sacramento.

There were screams and squeals…especially for Jack Nicholson who looked a bit disheveled and unshaven in dark sunglasses. The crowd yelled, Jack! Jack! He was the only celebrity who signed autographs and talked to some eager fans waiting along the red carpet outside the California Museum of History, Women, & the Arts in Downtown Sacramento. Jack Nicholson was one of the twelve inductees for the California Museum’s Hall Of Fame. Jack loaned his second grade report card and his Joker costume from Batman for the exhibit. I wonder if Jack was a joker in the second grade? The crowd went nuts for Jack. On the red carpet one woman told him, “I just wanna shake your hand!” Jack dryly responded, “Is that all?” Classic Jack. Check out the video:

Other California inductees were actress Jane Fonda, who loaned her pantsuit she wore when accepting the Academy Award for Klute in 1972, along with her two Oscars. I would have went with the 1980’s leg-warmers she made famous. Fitness guru Jack LaLanne was there along with music producer Quincy Jones, jazz musician Dave Brubeck, and chef Alice Waters.

Also attending were family members representing author Theodore "Dr. Seuss" Geisel, architect Julia Morgan, scientist Linus Pauling, photographer Dorothea Lange and California founding father Leland Stanford, who received posthumous awards.

The 3,000 square foot exhibit at the museum features an interactive collection of more than 100 artifacts highlighting the accomplishments of its inductees this year.

For more info on the California Museum and their hours check out the website for details.

I was watching some of the coverage on KCRA last night and I swear I saw you in the back ground. Then low and behold look what gets contributed to the site today.

With writers whose hands turn to ice while trying to snap photos and indulge their celebrity vice. :)

Yeah. Jim Crandall gave me credit. Here's the really poor video of the blurb on Fox 40.

Some day I hope to be famous enough to be called just by my first name and people will know who you are speaking of.
