After listening to the news and all the raids that have taken place in Sacramento of homes that are growing pot, how does one go about reporting a possible “pot house”, anonymously? I have some info of such a place, but I want no repercussions…I have a family to protect, which is why I am doing this in the first place. I believe in the law and do not agree with what this individual is doing.

Dear caringparent,
To anonymously report narcotics activity occurring in the city of Sacramento, citizens can call our 24-hour Narcotics Tip Line at (916) 808-5796, or they may submit an anonymous e-mail via our website: www.sacpd.org. (Go to the heading, File Online Reports, click on Suspicious Activity and Crime Tip Form). The more precise and exact the information, the better we can follow up on your tip. Callers can leave their names and/or phone numbers for follow-up contact by detectives, but by no means are they required to.
Most of the surrounding agencies also have narcotics tip lines. The Sheriff’s tip line number is (916) 874-9056.

The tip line and the web-based tip forms provide absolute anonymity to the complainant. However, much of what we can do with “anonymous” information is limited by court decisions. With anonymous information, we are able to check our information systems and determine if a suspected drug dealer is on parole or probation, and work with their parole or probation officer.
It is more helpful when a caller is able to provide his or her name and a call back number because we are able to legally do more with complaints that are not anonymous. Be assured that we recognize the sensitive nature of narcotics complaints and always protect the identities of our sources of information. We will not come to your house and your confidentiality will be maintained.

I hope this information is helpful.
Officer Michelle

Pot is a narcotic? News to me. I'd personally like to see law enforcement focussing on real crime.

“Family” is a dirty word for censorship, and is used to instil power over another human to take away their personal freedoms and rights to privacy.

Villains! How dare they indulge in illegalities while people can drink vodka and pop any number of prescription drugs with the approval of society and the alcohol and pharmaceutical industries. Shame on them.

"Pot Houses" are the result of bad law making. Legalize marijuana and regulate it's production.

I'm glad to see people taking initiative to make law enforcement aware of illegal activity.

How do you know its "illegal"? It very well may be a law-abiding citizen whom is legally able to cultivate and possess marijuana for medical use. I am a caring parent and grandparent but it can be going excessively far for a nosey neighbor to treat their neighbor as a criminal when they just might not be. Do not be so quick to judge others actions just because you do not agree, understand, know, or give a damn. I am a safe marijuana grower and a good neighbor. Had a neighbor before who kept reporting me in the manner suggested because I would not sell him marijuana because I do not sell marijuana. Several taskforces later turns out he is a rapist we found out when they opened up Megan's law to the public. Be a good person, talk to your Neighbor, and find out if they are doing things legally before you report a legal activity and get your neighbor treated like a criminal. Police have shot Kids during raids and commonly shoot your dog. Be a good neighbor and parent!!!
